and to reply to your answer yes i would pull the pump and replace it if need be.. i stand behind my work
Sounds like you took way to much offense to what was said. I wasn't trying to say that you wouldn't do a good job for him or not be trustworthy. Just making the point that even service people that do this everyday mess up a certain percentage of these pumps during the install. If this ended up being your bad luck pump it very well could cost you out of pocket the price of a new pump.

Call some local shops, tell them you want all that done to your truck and want a ballpark figure on price. If no diesel shops around, call the bigger well known shops such as www.scheiddiesel.com or www.haisleymachine.com. This would give you a good idea on labor time.
If I were to do a VP44, again, Id probably charge the person about $150. If someone were to tell me they wouldve changed my VP44 for me for $150 when it failed, i probably wouldve let em. Add fass and gauges for another 150 or so for the time involved.
Really depends on what your time is worth.
Id pay someone $300 to do it all, and id charge someone $300 for a sunday full of doing it as well.
What would you pay someone to do it for you?

I would say the whole job will be close to 12 hours of work. Anywhere from 300-400 would be fair IMO.
