I gotta brag for a sec

As yall know, I'm running just a DTT VB(stock TC, seals, clutches, bands, etc) with a double deep tranny pan with numbers over what my sig states. Been running it for about 30k miles. In that time I've pulled a 3k trailer through the city for a month straight in nothing but stop and go with lots of backing, street raced it, used a lock up switch, some power braking, boosted launches, and lots and lots and lots and lots of full throttle standing stop acceleration. Well tonight I went and changed the fluid in it. The old stuff came out smelling and looking just as pretty as the new stuff. Not even a hint of brown to it. I dropped the pan and looked at the magnet and there was a fine coating of sludge on it (much like on the diff cover magnets) but it wasn't thick at all. The bottom of the trans pan looked clean as a whistle as well. So I fill it up with 12qts of dexron 3 and hammer on it and it shifts just as purdy as it did before, well, except for the slushy TC.

So after seeing that and how my tranny is doing I'm convinced that if you put a good aftermarket VB in before you start slipping your auto that you will certaintly help prolong it's life.

BigBlue does not condone street racing nor does he say that his tranny is normal and none of the above should be attempted by anyone other than trained professionals.

I agree BB. (I'm gonna hate myself in the morning)

But your stock TC is looking pretty grim I'll bet!

I don't even wanna know what my stock TC looks like. All I know is I floor it and it sits at 3200rpm until lockup and it drops way down and pulls like a son of a gun all the way through third and OD. I'm kinda hoping it's dead in the morning though so that way I don't have to go and take my accounting test.

I'm starting to think you may never kill your tranny. I have been saying "any day now" for how long? Your tranny is a freak.

But I agree 100% that a VB will do a lot, if it is put in before the stock trannt starts slipping.

I figure that if what I've done to it so far hasn't hurt it then how much more will it take. Hmm. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

It sure would be something to make a 600hp dyno pass on a stock tranny with a VB Add a little more fuel, and air and see if you cant do it BigBlue . I cant complain with my transmission so far. It is hanging in there tuff.

WOW! Thats all I can say! Your tranny is a mutant! I just knew it was going to smell like a BBQ pit. Maybe we should trade trucks for a day and you can teach mine to act right too!

Its the pos TC that's saving your tranny from all the torque. When the tough get going, that TC starts slipping.

i have still not put a valve body in my tranny yet. but i think the only reason it is still alive is that the truck is light and it just spins the tires. but i have over 10k on it at 500 rwhp and it still seems fine. but i can make it slip in second if i can get good enough traction.

I think the accurate translation is "HEY, y'all hold my beer and watch this!!!"

I don't think your tranny is ever going to die. You have been flogging it since the stone age. (Like since 2002)(When I joined)
