HX35 mods help...

I could swear that I read about an hx40 outlet that will bolt right onto my hx35 so I could use a hx40 downpipe and achieve a full 4" outlet and down pipe instead of the hx35 3" bottleneck.

I went to PIERS to find said hx40 outlet I found this:

PDR1010500 HX35 - HX40 Downpipe Adapter $49.00

But this is not what bolts to the back of my hx35???????? My hx35 has the cast iron 3" 45* spout that my downpipe bolts to that also has 5 or so bolt that bolts it to the back of my ex housing.

Basically all confusion aside I want to run a true 4" exhaust using my hx35 is there a hx40 outlet that'll bolt to my hx35, what components would be needed to do this other than a new down pipe and where can I get them and how much are they??

PS i can weld & fab, not an issue

OK maybe I'm a little confused I don't have my truck to look at right now but is that cast iron flange that my d/pipe bolt to v-clamped to the 5 bolt flanged part

Is the v-band joint 4"
Do I just need this http://www.piersdiesel.com/3540Adt.htm for an hx40 d/pipe

You need the 3 inch v-band style plate that replaces the existing elbow on the exhaust housing. Where the 5 bolts are. Then this adapter clamps to that, then your 4 inch downpipe.

The earlier 12V 94-98 had this adpater, and then the 24V they changed it. That adapter is $90 new.

I thought an hx40w turbine outlet would bolt on to an hx35w turbine housing

Nope. The 35's turbine wheel is smaller.

You can machine out a 35 housing to bolt up to a 40, but you can't adapt a 40 housing to a 35.

IIRC, of course.

BY housing you mean the turbine outlet housing takes 5 bolts to hold it onto the exhaust hsg right?

Correct, the HX40 exhaust housing doesn't work on a smaller HX-35 turbo, but Like Hohn said, you can go the other way and machine out the 35 exhaust housing to fit an HX40.l

The 5 bolt holes should line up, but the turbine wheel clearance with a 40 housing on a 35 will be excessive, and it will never spool.

i know BANK$$ makes a power elbow which is considerable bigger than the stock one and that will bolt up direclty to the hx, they alos make a downpipe to clamp to that, i bought the whole package when i put mine on. make a big difference in spool up. might be a little pricey but call'm up and see. it's not a real popular item and hard to find but BANKS should have one in california.
