Look at the ends of the snap ring. one of them has a taper on it. stick a screw driver under it then take a second one to work it out. Had mine opped out in ten seconds

I think he's asking about the big one that holds the compressor on...

I've used big slip joint pliers. The dang thing is frisky and wants to pop out all the time, so keep your fingers out of the way.

I don't care what anyone says, some are just downright stubborn and do not want to come out. My 95 took 2 seconds, my 94 needs a sawzall to get it out. I fought the thing forever and decided it wasn't worth bending a wheel on the turbo fighting the thing. If it becomes a struggle, leave the thing in.

If it's the silencer ring, leave it out. You don't need it to run the truck. I pulled mine out and lost it......on purpose......

It wasnt the silencer ring. Its the ring that holds the compressor housing to the cartridge. I finally found an easy way to do it--get my Dad to do it, he's good at that kind of thing.
