hx 40 ?

I have a 35 40 hybrid right now and i'm having heat issues. Only during hard accleration say up to 80mph i can easily hit 1500 degrees , If i switch to a piers hx 40 will this help the heat. My turbo now has a 14 wastegated exhaust housing.

Your best bet would be to call piers up and ask him. My mind seems to think it would, but I'm no where near an expert on turbos.

Would using water/meth help. Ive read that it can lower exhaust temps by at least 200 degrees. Just a thought.

Hello
I have the same BOMBs (minus the HX40) on my truck plus, I have a Edge EZ and I have not had any heat problems. I have been thinking about putting on a different turbo but the system on my truck seems to be working pretty good. I tow our goose neck or our 5er and the temps only go up to around 12/1400 pulling a hill.
Sorry I can't help you out with your question. These trucks sure do act different from one truck to another.
Good Luck
See Ya
Chris

HX 40

HX40 come with either a 16cm or and 18cm turbine. Either will give you more air than your 14cm. Also a lot slower spool up.

I have same problem on #9 setting - can hit 1500 degrees with my KSB-1B. Not to hard to drive around it.

What is your boost pressure when at that heat level? Do you have a boost elbow or other device to help raise your boost pressure?

Don't know if your asking me or More Power, but we both have a PM3 - which has a boost fooler! I get 48 psi boost from my KSB-1B.

I can reach 45psi but have wastegated it out at 38psi.

Is the lower wastegate settting giving you the high RPM temps? Maybe a setup closer to 40 would bring down the temps a bit.. Just stabbing in the dark here.

I am just thinking of giving more air up in the RPM range may help to bring down the temps..

Thoughts??

Not sure but I think the efficiency range on his turbo (cool air) max is about 38 psi. As I understand turbos, any more than that will be more volume of air but actually less dense, due to hotter air. Result - LESS efficient and higher EGT's.

Ok, Thank you.. That makes sense.

I was assuming unlimited output pressure. My bad..

That PM3 must really be fueling hard. I don’t have that much of a problem with my EGTs but then I have a timing box. I wonder if some timing would help with the EGTs? I’ve heard of guys stacking a timing box (like the EZ or maybe even a superchips tuner) with the fueling boxes with good results. With your studded and fireringed head I don’t think you will have to worry about cylinder pressures. Can you borrow a timing box and see if it helps? I would set it on the lowest setting and work up.
Here is a thread on that. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...cking+ez%2A%2A

I don't really have a problem - it was "More Power" who need more air. With my box (PM#) on setting #4, which I believe is same fueling as your EZ, I'm down around 1000 degrees. The 1500 degrees I reported was on #9 setting, which is a lot of fuel.
I have an EZ and have considered stacking, but I don't care for overriding the CTD timing. My TST box works through the ECM instead of overriding it. Does give slightly higher EGT's but it's a personal preference thing.
