HTB2 waste-gate ?

I just installed my HTB2 and it has a different waste-gate setup then the stock 35hx. What it has is the WG hose is connected to the front side of the turbo, where as the 35 had the WG connected the line that runs over to the pump. What should I do, hitch the WG to the line that runs to the pump and plug the fitting in the turbo? or should I plug the line to the pump? I wouldn't think it would be a good idea to leave the turbo without a signal from the engine because the pump needs to know boost, right? I want to tie up all the loose ends so I can check out that HTB2.

Thanks

Most get the signal (boost) from the turbo, some of the older trucks get it from the AFC line like you were talking about (what a pain) and there are times when that is best, I'd get it from the turbo.....same as 40's.

Well I blocked off the line coming from the AFC housing. I went and drove it and not much different from the stock turbo the EGT stayed the same but I do have 44lbs of boost know. I drove it about 5 miles then wanted to see what it would do from a stop and it did alright til it sounded like everything let loose so I limped back to the house to find out that I had blown the exhaust pipe loose under the truck. Well I guess thats a sigh that it might be pushing more air but its still not any cooler I'm just going to have to give HTT a call tommorrow and have a nice talk about their claims about a 200 degree drop in EGTs, I think not. Its pretty crapy to have high temps when I still have those TINY 160s still in the truck.

THIS SUCKS

Chris, you are not going to get much of a EGT reduction at full throtal if you got the HTB2 with the 12cm exhaust housing. It's just to small for a bombed truck, what you get is very fast spoolup from a large turbo. I was somewhat upset myself after I installed my turbo with very little reduction in EGT's. Once I thought about it some, I was very happy, because I was getting a higher volume of air, high boost numbers, most certainly lower intake temps and quicker spoolup than the stock turbo with a 16 cm housing. Now I don't know what you are looking for, but I am very happy with what I have. Darl Absher III

Darl

I talked to Paul at HTT and he has already sent out a HTB2 killerB2 to me I'm happy with what has taken place.I had told HTT what I was going to do to my truck and there was some kind of misunderstanding. HTT has been the best company I've ever worked with. I just got worried that the turbo wouldn't handle the injectors I have on the way. (there BIG)

Hey Chris, give us a heads up once you get the new turbo on and tell us what you think, differences, etc. Thanks, Darl Absher III

I purchased the HTB2/64 with a 12" housing.from Paul back in Sept and like said above they were a great company and I must have had 15 e-mails with Paul and he was great to deal with. My plans have kinda changed though since I got it though!!! I am now thinking of going with twins. Does anyone know or think the HTB2/64 will work as the smaller turbo? I don't really see why it wont but I could be wrong. From what everyone says is that it flows more than a 40 but spools up way faster so there for I would think it would work with an HTB3.

What do you guys think?

Thanks...Ryan

I was told by several people with twins that it would be too big for the top turbo and too small for the bottom. They said to take your 35 and send it to HTT to be upgraded and also buy a HT3B for the bottom.

Thats just what I have been told by people I trust that all run twins. You would have to have one powerful motor to run a HTB2 on top.
