I get 30 psi out of mine. But then again, I used the turnbuckle method so I can adjust mine. I don't know if it will really help you any performance wise. If you have black smoke at full boost, then yes, more boost will help performance. If you only have a slight haze, then no, it won't help much, if any. I don't think you can really run it to lean. I could be wrong though. Just watch your EGT gauge. If the temps get to high, back off the boost a little. At least, I'd think that if your running to lean, the temps would be to hot.

Don't worry about running it lean. You can't get it too lean. Basically, after you let off the accerator, you lean out the engine and it slows. What you have to worry about is running rich. This will cause high heat and worse! This is what smoke comes from.

Remember, gassers are way different than your beast! If you add more fuel, you may need more turbo boost. If you add lots of fuel, you need twins!

See, clear as mud!

Dave

Pushing a turbo to far out of its map just creates more heat. I wouldn't take an HX35 beyond 35 psi. I was getting 32 psi out of the HY35-9cm. When I removed it I found a large crack in the exhaust housing around the wastegate port.

For a stock HX35, I have heard that mid 30's is max. Nor a Piers 35, well that's just a different story!

Unless you have lots of smoke or high EGTs, you should have plenty of boost.

Now don't quote me on this, but I remember someone saying that the engine typically requires about 10psi per horsepower. Maybe someone more enlightened on the turbo front can answer that question.

Dave
