HRVP question

is a hrvp a waste of $$$$ for me. I currently have a vp that is going to leave me stranded some day real real soon so i need to by a new one asap. my future plans are up grade to drag comp, injectors some were between 125 and 200hp and a htt super stock 62/14 not sure what would be best 4 me yet as I do tow 4-7000# daily. any input on any of the above would be greatly appreciated. my truck will probly never see the track but I am all ways down for the good ol fashion street race.

thanks in advance you guys haven't let me down yet.

With your current plans yes it would be wasteful. The sticks can add more fuel than the hot rod upgrade on the pump so just get a good SO pump and go from there.

What PHatty means is that a HRVP actually has less top end fuel delivery than a SO VP when you hit the 500 HP range, which is what you are talking about with 150 HP injectors and air to boot. Under 500 HP, Hot rod, Over 500 HP, SO= stock output or standard output, will get bigger numbers on the dyno and idle like it should. HRVP's idle like an old muscle car with a big ol lopey cam.

Big blue,
You have HO (high output) confused with Hot Rod (HR) pump.
The HRVP44 will fuel as much as a SO pump on the top its the HO pump that wont fuel as much as a SO on the top end.

so just say you had to stock trucks one with a hrvp and one standard vp would the hrvp have a power increase or do you not see the increase untill you have bigger sticks and can use the added fuel from the hrvp I am just trying to see when the need or use of a hrvp comesin to play

With small or stock injectors is when you will see a power increase of the HRVP over the SO. Once you go to big sticks the two pumps even out.

If you have a dying vp44 and want a little more power without doing more mods then a hot rod pump can give you the bump you want. Or if you're driving a 6 speed truck and want 600 hp then a hot rod pump could make more power than the ETH/ HO pump.

Personally i would just stick with a stock SO pump and save the extra money for some good injectors down the road, you have a lot of options with injectors and it's easier to switch out injectors than it is pumps being if you everwanted to go bigger or back to stock for some reason. Plus better idle quality some HRVP dont idle the best.

has anyone proven that even the SO pump can out perform the HRVP44 when you go bigger?

i had been thinking of selling my HRVP and getting an SO pump because i could make a few bucks back on the deal, but my truck runs great right now, EGT's are right, idles right, makes darn good power, i'd hate to switch something out.

I don't neccesarily think that the SO will outperform the HRVP when you go bigger more like the HRVP won't outperform the SO pump. They will run even. If your setup is running perfect I wouldn't change a thing.
