How Much Boost for 01 Auto ?
How Much Boost for 01 Auto ?
A buddy of mine has an 01 4x4 auto with a Comp box,4" exh,FASS and it only reaches 20 psi of boost is this right ? Or is the J hook in his future ? Can we adjust the wastegate ? Will this J hook fit his turbo ? Also what is next on the to do list ?
Injectors? What size?
Turbo?
The trans will be getting some atten soon so just looking for ideas to make some more power with out breaking the bank.
thanks Guy's

2001 Autos where wastegated at 20psi stock, and yes the J-hook will work on his turbo and allow him to get some more boost. I turnbuckled mine and locked it shut so at 5300 feet altitude I get about 32psi to 35psi. I wouldn't bother trying to adjust the factory wastegate, just have him get the J-hook and he will be good to go!!!
And as far as what's next, its all up to his preference and what he is intending to do with the truck. Most people are going with the MACH series injectors and a Hybrid turbo which makes a massive difference over stock. I can't really help to much on this department, I still have yet to do either of them
I'm sure you will get some good suggestions from the pros on this!!!

I hit 34-35psi boost max, with MAD ECM comes on near instant
(No need for boost fooler on MAD ECM either). You could J-hook it, or adjust turnbuckle rod, or remove and tap out turbo hardline and put in pipe plug, or just crimp off hardline. You'll need to get 30+ PSI to keep EGT's cool, and get full power potential of comps fueling.
Good bang for buck would be 275hp injectors, or pricier but better Mach series
You will need a bigger turbo(do search) with bigger sticks and comp(especially if towing) unless you crank it down to keep EGT's safe. Your friends tranny will be toast in short time with just Comp and heavy foot. Need to upgrade that also (torque and V.B. minimum). Where does it end. [eyecrazy

Sorry it took me so long to respond!!!! I haven't had any issues with my tranny so far, it seems to be taking the COMP and the extra boost pretty well although I don't beat on it too much. Mainly because I don't really want to buy a stinkin tranny right now

With my setup on the stock tranny, I managed to pull a 16.37 @ 89mph at the dragstrip here in Colorado which is 5,000 plus feet in elevation. Before I added the extra boost I was only pulling around a 16.6...........couldn't believe how much it helped me out. Plus with the added boost it lets me stay in the throttle a lot longer before my EGT's get crazy!!!
