How loud will it be???

I am still debating removing the slincer ring from my turbo. Before I decide, I would like to know just how much more turbo noise should I expect upon removal? Twice as loud, three times as loud compared to stock????

I was fooling around in the driveway the other day and took mine out to see. I would say about twice as loud. I notice the noise at much lower boost numbers now. Try it and see if you like it. It takes 5 minutes to remove it or put it back (if you don't like it).

How hard would it be to put it back in? Would I need special pliers to compress the snap ring?

It's easy in easy out with a couple of small flat screwdrivers. Just walk it around slowly.

do you still have the stock air box because if you do then no worries wont be that loud and will not bother yu that much air intake you'll notice it but you'll get used to it fast

That would be up to you whether it would bother you. I would guess NO, but I just crank up the tunes if I get tired of hearing the whistle...

I noticed the whistle a lot more when I took the ring out of my 05. On my 01 I couldn't really tell much of a difference. I don't even know if I would call it twice as loud with the stock air box. However, with the aFe she sings pretty good.

I don't have the stock air box anymore as I went the BHAF route.

Where is this ring?? Is it in the very Inlet of the turbo housing? I have been searching for a photo of it in this forum.

Mine is much louder with just the BHAF, I tried several times to remove the silencer ring but have not been able to....but with the whistle I am hearing through the BHAF is fine for me. I guess like someone else said, pop it out and take it around the block and see what ya think.

IMO the silencer ring is not that loud, and I really liked the sound when I had it. Now if you want some major turbo noise get a set of twins.
