How to get a 97 12v up to 600 rwhp

The title pretty much speaks for itself. I have a 97 12V auto, that I will change out the 180 pump for a 215 pump. I want a max of a 3GSK kit, not 4.
I know I will have to upgrade the tranny and I really dont want twin turbos. I want to stick with a single. Will a single be streetable with this much poop? Is this possible and what do I need to do?

I personally would never run 600HP on a single in a 12V unless you have a cam, seriously ported head, exhaust manifold, intake, water/meth, studs and O-rings, along with maybe a little NO2.

If you tow anything or use it as a daily driver you'll have wayyyy to much lag to make it any fun.

Send the pump to Scheid, they can make it "pump fuel" for you!!! Water injection will be a must!!!!!!! I am at 480 HP with an HX-40, to go to 600 and be streetable?? I think twins will be the way to go. Get a hold of John_P on this board, he has a 900HP 12 valve with twins.

Having been there, and also having several friends who've also been there. 600 isn't very streetable, the throttle is really touchy, you'll need a valet switch just to drive it as a commuter. I also see a 2mpg difference in valet vs full bore.

But sticking with a single won't get you there, unless you're using nitrous.

Silverbullet plus a little Nos should get you there with a single with a tuned pump. Twins would be the only way to go if you want 600hp fuel only.

I will not tow with this rig. So most are saying that you can not make it without twins or use a single and nitrous. What kind of sticks, what fuel plate. I had a 98 auto that I put on a #5 plate with 370's and it was alright. I just want alot more power than that. So if I go with twins, what else do I need?

A 180 pump will be plenty. No reason to swap to a 215. My cousin Josh(teddy bear on here) should be around 600hp on a 180 pump, stock lift pump, laser cuts, DDP4's, HX55, 5k GSK, Mack Rack plug, Helix 2 cam, ported/o-ring'd head, 25* timing, and #0 plate. Bottom end is stock with almost 230k miles on it. Its actually pretty streetable if you can keep your foot out of it. It spools real good from a stop actually. He was running a Sled Puller 68 turbo, and it didnt have as much power, but it spooled better. I think with some 191's, a tuned AFC housing, and something like that 68mm charger he had on it, it would be pretty streetable if you wanted to stick with a single. I drove it to work for a couple of weeks while mine was down, and it did just fine. The only thing i had to watch was rolling into it in overdrive. There is video of it on the net if you'd like for me to get you a link. But if you could go with twins, that would really be a sweet setup for daily driving.

Eric

What kind of auto tranny was in that 98? Not a stock one I hope.
A #5 with 370, 16* timing, big single turbo, and a performance trans will make 400 all day long.
If it was a stock trans, you'd be under 300 because of slippage.

You will need to get your pump tuned and flow matched. You will need big injectors from DDP or Industrial Injection, You will need a 100 plate or similar. You will need head work to keep the head gasket in place. You will need an additional lift pump to keep fuel psi high. You will need a freer flowing exhaust system than stock, you will need a good air intake system. You will need to bump timing past 17*, and you will need to change your oil every 1000 miles and run conventional oil, or sooner if you run synthetic. Or get an additional bypass oil filtering setup. You will also need intercooler boots and clamps.

I put in a BD tq convertor and valve body. I had a stock turbo and BHAF for the filter. It had a bypass filter system as well. I timed it to 16.5. It also had 370 injectors.
