How do the nerf bars mount on the GEN-III's?

Anyone got pictures of their '03 nerf bar mounting hardware? Do they attach to the body mounts, hang from the pinch seam, attach to the frame, ???

Mine attach at the little oval holes along the bottom of the body. The neighbors attach at the cab mounts. Those are the two variations I know of.

Does your neighbor have a GEN-III as well? The reason I ask is that the tech at a nearby *********** says the units they carry no longer use the cab mounts, they use the oval body holes you speak of. He has no idea why, and neither do I? I'm wondering if they changed something in the cab mount that no longer makes it safe/practical, or if they just found an easier way???

Can you elaborate at bit on the oval-hole mounting? The guy at the dealership didn't give much of an explanation other than he thought it was a PITA compared to the cab mount style. Thanks!!

TWZMYJP,
I have a 2nd gen truck, but the set of tubes I put on uses the oval body holes to mount them (in the rear only)
Basically, the kit included a bolt that had an oval head on it. You insert the oval head into the oval opening and turn it, thereby preventing the bolt from pulling out. To tighten the nut onto the bolt, you had to pull the bolt head against the frame to keep it from spinning. The kit included some square plastic sleeves (that were larger then the opening) that you put over the end of the bolt to prevent it from falling into the body until you get the nut on it.

I have Westin bars on my regular cab and they use both cab mounts and oval holes. Kyle

I have the MAAP Challenger steps...they're oval, almost like a board. Mine mounted the same way as the bars in those pics. I really couldn't add anymore to that, I don't think.

[undecided]
