How about a quiet high flowign intake ?

I'm one of those guys who prefers to keep their muffler on and silencer ring in but i love the performance of my 2nd gen. Since i don't think i can get a silencer ring for my 62/12 are there any quiet intakes out there? I was thinking about putting my stock airbox back on but it probably doesn't flow enough for my mods. Its the turbo whistle going down the highway that annoys me more than anything!

You could try a afe drop in with the stock box. The stock box and a K&N worked fine for 490 on my truck, just lacked a bit in filtration. Just leave the rubber boot off. Another thing to look into is a TAG- they can help quieten things down.

TAG will definately quiet it down. I'm thinking about picking one up to hush up my B-1.

On my '99 I dynoed@315rhp and 693 trq. with DTT tranny, mach 1.6's and an EZ. I was running stockbox and a nano drop-in. loved it. Quiet power.

The volant or S&B intakes seem like they would be pretty quiet since they both use a fully enclosed air box vs. just a heat shield like AFE or AEM. don't have any experience with either one though, don't know if theres any truth to that or not.

Can someone explain "TAG" to me? I did a search here and did not find anything on it. Thank you

The tag installs in your intake tube, looks like a honey comb & when used with a stock turbo makes it spool faster. My friend has one that he is selling because he upgraded his turbo. I could ask him if he still has it, pm me & I'll call him up. Here is a link to Tag. http://dieselpowerproducts.com/Turbo_Air_Guide.php

The TAG sounds like a great idea, pretty much does what a silencer ring does an more. I doubt it fits on my HTB2. I'll send them an email and see... I've heard a lot of varying opinions on the stock airbox on how much HP it can handle, i would prefer to use it as well...

A fairly standard equation for air filters and hp is 1 sq in per hp... I am not sure what the 2nd gen stock filter is, but a measuring tape could tell you.

My friend is selling it because it can't be used on a HTB2. It is only for stock turbos, won't allow enough air to pass through on anything above stock. It made a big difference on his stocker, but he lost some power with a bigger charger.

Well, looks like i'm goona try the stock airbox, see how that works, i'm not sure if there is a silencer ring available for HTB2s or not, i assumed it would come with one on it. I'm pushing around 450hp with everything on kill so i guess i'll see what the indicator on my airbox has to say about that. The cold intake air is probably better for performance anyways!

Tag 3, never heard of it. I'll check it out, my friend swears that it does work well. Edit: I am blind!!! It is on the page that I posted a link.

It's also the link I posted from puredieselpower.com since he had mentioned the 62/12.
