Question Help! I can't decide what I want for xmas!

Hey guys! I've been thinking about what I want to get for xmas for a while and now I need to decide! Here are the choices I've narrowed it down to.
1. a high Idle module for those cold morning start/warm ups.
this one would be nice but during the summer it would be totaly useless as I don't use the pto for anything. Still I think it would be better than a stick on the accelerator.
2. A 4" exaust system! I've been wanting a free flowing exhaust for a while but I'm not sure I'll notice a big or any performance gain from this at this time. My egts never get over 1000 at wot either so I don't need the lower egt's an exhaust would provide. Would spoolup be faster and if so would it be a noticeable gain while driving? I'm also concerned with the noise. I like the way my truck sounds now and don't really want it any louder. Who makes a good 4" system that sounds similar to the stock 3" with the resenator still in and no muffler?
3. An injection pump cover to tap into all the power my comp has! I'd love to do this one! It would be cheep to do as long as my vp dosen't die as a result of the tap. I've been driving on 1x5 since march with no problems but I'm still nervous.
Well there's the choice's I have that will fit into the budget for this year. Which one would you guys want to see under the tree on xmas morning!?
Thanks, Mike

get the exhaust system. you dont need a cover to tap your wire, so tap the wire anyways and get the exhaust. then put a brick on the accelerator for those winter warm ups

get the exhaust and the cover (they are cheap anyway) I really liked using the cover for tapping...very clean and easy

I would get the exhaust too. I can't believe I drove around with this thing stock for over two years! There is a pretty big difference in the sound outside, but my "in the cab" noise is very similar to stock.
No noticable gain while driving though. You can get any configuration of exhasust you want. (i.e, with mufler, with resonator and muffler delete, etc.)I have a diamond eye type muffler that doesen't seem to do much muffling, but like I said, the cab sounds about the same to me under all conditions.

An electronic high idle would be sweet too. I was quickly dissapointed when I saw the price tag on those this fall.

Mike, Welcome to DTR!
Don't want to hurt your feelings but I would look at other ideas... except maybe the high idle update, since you don't like the stick on the throttle.
You don't need the exhaust till you get to about 350 hp and won't see any gains till then. It will be louder, which you say you don't want.
The Inj Pump Cover will not provide stealth, if that is your main reason for it. It's my understanding that pump rebuilders can still tell the wire was tapped.
Your choice, of course.
Have you seen other ideas here... http://www.genosgarage.com/
Fill in your signature, under UserCP, so we know what truck you have... yr, model, tranny, etc.

Instead of the high idle, why not an exhaust brake? Switch it on at idle in the morn, it'll keep the EGT's up and help warm up the truck, and its useful all year long.

I say get the exhaust, tap your wire the old fashioned way, and go too your dealer and have them enable your high idle. Mine is set too come on when the outside air temp is -5* celcius. I think that is around 23* farenheit for you american folks. I had mine recalibrated as it was revving the engine too 1800 rpm. Now it idles it up too 1300 rpm.

DieselDiehard,

Exhaust it and tap it and have a party, make sure you keep a watch on the LP pressure and that'll keep the injection pump happy. If you don't have guages get them now before you tap the wire! Get the dealer high idle fix, maybe you can get it cheap or free! If you have exhaust or gauge questions call us, we have all the MBRP, Auto Meter, Isspro, and DiPricol.
