I have been looking for a 04.5-07 turbo to try the same upgrade that BigBlue24 did, and I am confused. From what I read, the 03-04 trucks should have a HE341 turbo. Yet if you look at the two e-bay listings, both list a 351CW, yet their turbines look different and one claims to be from an 03. Also, the exhaist elbow on the 03 looks like it is tapering down from 4" to like 3.5"?
Can anybody explain?

Ok, I had a reply: the one with curved blades looks like that because of the compressor blade damage. Should be straight normally. Both are HE351, one must have been installed on a 2003 truck as an upgrade.

Yeah Paul, you made a great observation, that first listing is an HE351cw, with an 03' cast exhaust elbow. Someone probably upgraded their stock turbo to the He351cw.

That second listing, I can't believe someone would pay 280 bucks for a ruined turbo! No way that compressor will stay together much longer if it even spins freely.

I'm pretty sure the 4" outlet wasn't factory until the 04.5 and newer models.

I used know all this stuff cold, but I'm getting old and brain dump things like that

Your right HOHN. The 600 series gained the 4" downpipe elbow and an electronic wastegate. The earlier turbo had the 3.5" exhaust with a manual wastegate.
