NO I put on that geno's white Knight back up system. Not the greatest but it does work, OK. I did not want to melt down that skinny little wires the stock system has, 20 gauge. So I went to 12 gauge with the change over OF

KATOOM,

I added 50-watt halogens from JC Whitney.

look here

It made a noticable difference although not a huge difference. Kinda pricey when you add JC's shipping, but it did help. My real help came with back up lights from Cabellas. The auxilary lights are wired to come on with the stockers and also can be turned on with a switch in the bed. look here

T-Bone

I went with the Whitnight System too.
I bought mine from the source www.cruiserstainless.com
I love these lights. ;D
Simple install, (right Tony? )
And when I had a problem after having them for over 2 years, their customer service was "We'll make it right, no questions asked".
I can finally see when backing out my driveway at night.

Re:Halogen back up bulbs?

I put the JC Whitney bulbs in my 95 1500. It did not make enough diference for me to see with the tinted windows and a shell on the back. I bought a set of back up lights at AutoZone. I do not remember the brand but I do remember they were about $30. The kit had 2 lights, a relay, wire, and wire ties. I used the wire ties to strap the lights to my trailer hitch. You run a 12 volt line from the battery to the relay, don't forget to use a circuit breaker or fuse on that wire. Then you attach a wire to the truck's back up light circuit to turn the relay on. That system worked good, but after 3 years water got into 1 of the lights and the reflector turned dark. I am a vol. fireman, so they sure came in handy on dark nights when I got ready to leave a fire or accident scene. I could see what was behind me when I was turning around to leave.

Bill

Re:Halogen back up bulbs?

I agree that our backup lights are only somewhat helpful. I mounted two tractor type headlights under the bumper. They are wired using a starter solenoid. I mounted the solenoid behind the left tail light and supplied power from the hot wire on the tow connector. They are triggered by the normal reverse circuit. Next, will be a seperate switch to turn them on by themselves. Will probably just use a diode to isolate them from normal wiring. I really like the results.
Ed

I did the tractor lights under the rear bumper, too. I removed the stock bumper bolt, which wasn't actually holding anything at all, and replaced it with a stainless button head. The lights are on a relay triggered by the existing backup lights. Total investment of about $30, $10 apiece for the lights and the rest for various stainless bolts and the relay. Here's a link to a photo:

http://www.jimpointeronline.homestea...ramphotos.html

The stock backup lights are just way too small, the lens is smoked, and with a tinted back window, it all adds up to some pretty bad vision out the back.

I agree that the tractor lights are the best way to go. I don't know how long the factor wiring would last with more power.

If the stock tractor lights aren't bright enough you could always bomb them with aircraft landing bulbs!
