h2 wheels

i know theres been alot of talk about this but here it goes.....need to know if h2 wheels and tires will fit my 1997 2500 4x4 ctd.....i know you have to modify the hub hole to make it work ,just want to know if anybody has this set up on a 97 and how they went about it and if it rubs or do you need a lift or what....sorry for all the questions but really need to know ......
thanks in advance any and all comments please.....

Actually I think they will fit without a lift, it is VERY close though. If they do rub it'd be minimal.

yeah, it will be real close ,,saw a set today not on a truck but thats a whole lot of tire. thinking of maybe trying this considering the prices of aftermarket rims and tires...if it will work its a great deal.... i'm just a little concerned about the modification you have to do to make it work....

Yes the tire is huge, but I think the offset the Hummer uses is pretty close to what Dodge used. Most customs seem to have offsets a ways off which make them stick out past the fender and cause more of an issue at full steering lock. People have done it with just a hole saw or die grinder, as long as it is tight on the hub even if it is a little big in an area or two it doesn't mater so much.

I dont think it matters how tight it is over the hub. The support of the wheel is on the studs and their holes. My tires did not rub at all except when at full lock and going offroad where it pushed the tires up. They do rub pretty bad now though with my nerf bars on. Looks like I am going to have to get some of the DT profab Control arms.

I thought they were hubcentric wheels from the factory. In essence all the weight is on the hub and the studs are just there to hold the wheel on.

No, The wheel lugs are what takes the weight and grunt of the wheel/tire. The H2 wheels and BFG's barely stick out and the offset IS darn close to Dodge factory. It was an inexpensive upgrade from the 285's I used to run and at half the cost of new tires which I was in need of anyway.

newspapers, Parts Trader, and sometimes Hummer dealers. Most yuppie puppies buy these vehicles and immediately put on aftermarket Bling wheels with pinner street tires...you know, for goin ***** out off road They sell theoriginals for pretty cheap(usually...but they are catching on to us)

Mine were from Ebay from 4WheelParts in Dallas. $376+125 shipping to Ohio. I figure someone who wanted to bling out their H2 got screwed by 4WheelParts since they sold 'em so cheap.

brandon.

I have a set ready to go.
How do these do on snow and ice, seems like a lot of flotation.

thanks for ALL THE RESPONSE,,,SO I GUESS FROM WHAT I'M READING THAT THEY WILL FIT OK ON MY STOCK 97....BUT I THINK TURBO DEEEZLE IS RIGHT THEY ARE CATCHING ON TO US CAUSE I AM NOT SEEING THE SMOKING DEALS THAT SOME HAVE GOTTEN ON THESE. THE PRICES I HAVE BEEN QUOTED ARE AROUND 900. FOR 4 WHEELS AND TIRES....STILL A LITTLE CONSERNED ABOUT BORING OUT THE CENTERS THOUGH SURE HATE TO RUIN A GOOD WHEEL.......
