guage options for 24V?
guage options for 24V?
On my '97 w/ Auto, I had a 3-guage pod with ISSPRO EV pyro on bottom, trans temp in middle, and boost on top. Now I have an '02 w/ 6-speed and am wondering what my options are. I definitely want to monitor EGT, fuel pressure, and boost.
I haven't spent much time driving the truck since I bought it on Saturday, but my initial feeling is that I'm not going to need power increases. That may change once I drain and replace all the fluids this weekend and actually start driving the truck. The Edge Juice with Attitude seems nice, but a little expensive for just engine monitoring. Plus, if I was going to make more power, I was leaning towards a Smarty. I'll admit I haven't done much research though.
I was in love with the ISSPRO EV back when I installed guages on my old truck in 2005, but now I see there is the ISSPRO EV2 and the Performax. How do the new ones rate?
I'll admit that I'm nervous to hack up the existing pillar in order to mount guages there. But I think that's the best place to quickly look at vital engine information.

Why would you hack up the pillar? Do you have the Infinity sound system? My aftermarket pillar just slides over and two of those plastic lock pins at the top. Lots of guys pull their OEM pillar and just put aftermarket one in by themselves.
Personally, I like analog gauges better than digital. You can just glance at them without actually having to read them. The juice does have some neat features though.

I did that too but I dont like the way you can see inside the replacement pillar when the gauge lights are on (talkinga bout from the outside of the truck). Looks like crap. I find it works best installing the replacement pillar over the original.
On my '97, I used a AutoMeter Guage Works pillar. The Guage Works pillar would not have fit as well as the original does, so I opted to put the Guage Works on top. I had to use a hole saw and drill holes in the original pillar behind the guages in order to run the cables to the guages. There was no room for cabling between the two pillars, so the cabling had to run behind the original pillar.
