depends on how your state laws read.... don't some states consider a turbocharger a muffler??

Did he use a db meter? If not, how can he say that they're too loud? Oh.. wait.. he must have calibrated ear drums.. yup.. that's it.

Check your state's vehicle code online and see what they say there. You can also stop by one of the weighstations (D.O.T.) and those guys can definately tell you - well at least they can out here around where I live...

I ran a 4 inch straight pipe for 8 months and was heavy on the pedal in town most of the time and was never stopped, then I switched to stacks and I swear these bastards are getting louder - I'm going to throw on a resignator just so I can hear my radio while I drive down my own street!

We have a trooper that was writing motorcycles that were factory stock
for loud pipes. After a few trips to court without winning his cases he figures
it wasn't worth the effort. I used to run in your area quite a bit. I found that
Milford was a good place to get into trouble. $$$$$$

Before I went to court I would check the local and state laws and see IF there are
any set db's and at what distance they are to be measured.

In all fairness LOUD or TOO LOUD is just someones opinion unless the state says different.

IMHO

get ready for a world of harrasment if ya try to go against them, stinks but if ya try to look out for yourself you may find yourself gettin nabbed down the line for yother little items, time for a pair of aero tubines midway up each stack

He just stopped u cause you had stacks and thought you were loud...About 75% of the US states laws are that the turbocharger acts as a muffler therfore you or not required to have a real muffler. I know TEXAS does.

The city of Burnet, Texas enacted a law 2 years ago in which an officer can issue a ticket if he feels that a vehicle is exceedingly loud. They don't use any equipment except the officer's ears, and I'm not positive, but I think he officer can vary the $$ ammount of the ticket based on how offensive he believes your vehicle's noise was.

Most states say that a turbo acts as a muffler, but that doesn't mean that you won't get a ticket for excessive noise, disturbing the peace, ect.
