Good idea or bad idea for new exhaust?

So, just ordered my MBRP exhaust from the DTR Store. I picked the aluminized steel version (for $250, you can't beat it.) Now my twisted thought process came up with this idea to help this new system survive the PA salted-road winters: paint the entire exhaust before it's installed with black BBQ paint. It should hold up to the temps, and it'll keep the system from rusting a lot longer if it does hold up. Plus, flat black is just SOOO cool. Worst case scenario, it just burns off and smells bad for a few days.

So...good idea, bad idea? Discuss...

Do it, I have used that stuff on stack boxes before and it holds up to the heat fine. Only concern would be under the truck it is subject to stones and road debris chipping it.

I thought the same thing when i got my exhaust, so i got some of that exhaust paint " same stuff as BBQ paint, dif color" from an auto parts store. Its says its good to 500 deg. it worked good, but it has to get hot to harden it so when I sprayed all the pieces and went to install them it wanted to chip off if it got hit by anything. so you might have to go back over some areas after the install. but when its gets nice and toasty its fine.

used the same stuff as ur talking about on my BBQ, works great.

I forgot, I have my tailpipes painted too. I didn't like the way they looked, and the flat black hides them well.

Thanks for all the input, everyone.

Update: exhaust showed up this week, I painted it yesterday with header/exhaust paint (which came in gray!), and it's going on shortly. So I'll keep you all posted on the install once it's done. It's a good-looking system, that's for sure. I can't wait to hear it.

I live in an area where they don't use much salt on the roads so I got the aluminized instead of the stainless MBRP. Before the install I wiped down all the parts with alcohol and painted everything with Duplicolor silver ceramic paint. Been on the truck for a few years now and still looks like new.
