Is this a good deal?

My Edge EZ went belly up. I got this info from Edge:

"Your module is out of warranty, but there are still a few options. You can send it in to us and we will test it and see if we can find the problem. If the problem can be solved by updating software then we will fix it free of charge. If it is a hardware issue we can either offer you a refurbished unit at a discounted price, a new unit, or we can upgrade you to a comp module for the cost of $350."

Is this price for upgrading to a Comp sound ok?

Depends. If your unit is toast, than it's a smokin deal on the comp (pun intended).

The "upgrade" is simply then sending you a new bo for probably cost. There is no upgrade from EZ to comp, different box all together. Comp would probably run you in the neighborhood of $600 new.

If they re-program it free of charge, you're good to go.

If they can't fix it free of charge then definately upgrade to the comp. Well worth the money.

Gary, How did you determine your EZ died?
Did you buy it new? How many miles did it last?
Please reply here when you find out what they say about it.... and the cause...if dead. Very curious.

I would say that it would be worth it. Only $350 for a comp is a great deal. They are cutting the price about in half. If you don't want it I will trade you a VA and buy a comp.

RJ,

It started out only working when the unit got hot. Now it has evolved to only working when it's really cold. When I say it's not working, I mean that the truck drives like the EZ isn't installed. I don't get any codes. It lasted going on three years and about 40K miles. I've tried banging on it and moving the wires around to no joy. I'll post more after I hear from Edge.

My comp dies a while ago and I was able to send mine in and get a new one and upgraded to the Drag version for a REALLY good price. I was pumped.
Now I'm talking to them about swaping for the new Attitude system for the 2nd gen in Jan.
I may just sell my Drag Comp outrite and then just purchase the new system.
