I came upon a parts truck and now have a good getrag 5 spd and t-case out of a 91 cummins.
What do you guys think about installing it in my 96 cummins? I have heard differing opinions about this trans. Is it going to work well for me? At highway speed and towing?
Mainly i just need to get rid of the auto and go manual. Is the nv4500 better? by much?

The nv is a better trans but i didnt have no problems with my getrag (1 quart over full) as long as it was maintained properly...Towed in upwards of 26k not including my truck and trailer weight

 

The transfercase from the 91 is an np-205 with the output and shifter located on the pass side. The 96 used a 241 with the output and shifter located on the drivers side.

 

i got a 91 w-250 cumm im tryin to swap to a 5 spd and can't find a doner where ya located. im in fl. land of no gen. 1's
