gear vendors ???

Has anyone used the gear vendors overdrive/underdrive unit? is it worth the money? im looking to get a 97 or 98 3500 4x4 dually with a 5speed, and i was thinking that this would be a good first up grade. i plan on runnin twins and afew other things. will the unit hold up to power+ heavy towing?

thanks, logan

A good buddy of mine has an 00 PowerChoke with a 6spd. He had the whole shebang done down at the Banks facility in SoCal. The very next thing he did was add the Gear Vendors, and he LOVES it! He uses it not only as an overdrive, but as a splitter as well. He does a lot of heavy towing and has had 0 problems with it in over 5 years now. I also know that Gear Vendors advertises that they have installed these in vehicles with over 1000 hp and have had success with them. I also am looking into this overdrive unit because I too have 4:11's and it would be nice to have an "extra" gear to lower my RPMs a little on the highway. I've noticed that if I keep the RPMs below 1900, my truck gets much better mileage.

I don't own a Gear Vendors Unit, but I have ridden in several Dodge CTD trucks with them installed, both in automatics and manuals. When the Gear Vendor Units were engaged in those trucks there is ONE HECK of a loud bang!
IMO,....it seems worse in the manual transmission trucks. If I were you, I would find somebody who has one and ride in it BEFORE you buy one. I had thought about one for my trucks too, but after riding in several with them, I have changed my mind!

Good luck!
