Gauges
Gauges
Ok I have now put in a new LP & IP, I have decided to put the gauges on the truck. I'm not understanding why these gauges are so dang expensive. I can't for the life of me see paying close to 200.00 bucks for a fuel pressure gauge! What makes them so high? Why can't you just put a gauge in the truck with a valve on the outside to shut if it happens to leak? We are not dealing with gasoline here. Diesel isn't going to blow up in my face. So is there any other reason why I can't do this?
You can get a gauge at Diesel Manor for under $50.00. The related fittings and needle valve can be picked up at your local NAPA for less than $15.00.
The reason they are all so high is that they are trying to sell you an isolator set up with the gauge, tell them to drop that (usually a $65.00 credit on the price)
Do a search, there are lots of threads, some with the pictures and part numbers to the parts from NAPA.

IF you are looking for a reasonably priced set of gauges then look at this:

For not much more than you are talking you can have EGT, Boost and FP. It also has warnings you can set and it will recall the min/max as well.
Do some shopping here at the DTR store or some of the other vendors on here and I think you will be pleasantly suprised at the price!

Get yourself a mechanical gauge and life will be good again.
There is no need to spend that kind of money on a FP gauge (IMHO, electric guages are not reliable). You can install a mechanical guage for under $60 and if you really want to be cheap, you can use an unlighted industrial type pressure guage for the install and itll run you about $30 or so.
