gauge wireing

wasnt sure where to post this but I am hooking up a new egt. and boost gauge and was wondering where people hook the power wires up to. I'd rather not squeeze under the dash checking every freaking wire. The directions say to use the light fuse but how? its not like my older truck where you can just wrap the wire around the fuse. and I cant access the back of the fuse block

thanks for any help

Take your fuse panel cover off and see if there is a place you can stick a flat spade connector. That's where mine is.

I would help if we knew what year the truck was.

For guages that dim with the rest of the dash lights, many use the ashtray light.
(if your year has that light)

thanks for the help . I ended up just wraping the wire around the fuse. Not how I wanted to do it but it seems to work fine

now another question is the egt suposed to fluctuate really fast? I have never had a deisel before and didnt excpect the temp. to change so quickly.

In a word..............yes.

My '99 runs about 600* or so at around 65 MPH, and will go up a couple of 100* real quick when I accelerate and then back down as soon as I let off. I'm pre turbo.

My truck is the first i have ever rode in that had gauges(after i put them in), and i didnt think it would fluctuate near as much. I was coming up a long, steep winding hill yesterday in 3rd with overdrive locked out, and the converter locked up, and went went from about 500* at the bottom to 950* at the top, so yes, it fluxuates pretty quick. It surprised me. Yours sounds normal.
