gauge pod ?

I just recieved my gauge pod from DPP today and i ordered the full a pillar 3 gauge pod and it says that it just screws to the old a pilar. And i was thinking that it would be a full replacement pillar with new clips so that i could just throw the old one in the trash seeing how all the clips are broke off and it is held on with a screw right now. Is there anyone out there who make a full pillar replacement?

fordsux8269,

All of the A pillars for all but the 2003+ trucks re use the stock pillar behind the replacement one. Folks have tried to not use the stock one behind the new one but it usually doesn't work out to well.

skip the screws and get some double sided tape or velcro and you don't have to mangle the stock unit

I removed my stock one, put the new one (3 gauge) in place, and drilled one small hole about 6" down from the top and at a 45* angle from the windshield. I used a 5/16 bit by hand ( be careful not to cut out too much), to create a taper in the outside of the new pillar, to allow the use of a flush mount screw. I then got, I believe, a #6 x 2 1/4" wood screw and painted it the same color as the pillar. Put the pillar in place, and hold it there with the single screw.

You can use just the gauge pod.

I use these little bumper stops to hold the pod in place.

The door seal hold the pod on one side, while the stops hold the pod firm in place on the other side...
