Gauge holders

Is there such a thing as "full" replacement that totally eliminates the old factory a pillar all together? I hate overlay stuff if I can get away with. Not using it I will,as I installed my boost gauge last night and the fit n finish leaves a little to be desired.....

I ordered a glowshift 3 pillar gauge mount with tweeter hole for my truck and it is junk.

I'm pretty handy so I ended up trimming it and making two mounting extensions to locate it correctly without having to cut into the stock pillar, which it was supposed to overlay, but would not.

Also, the speaker was loose and didn't stay put.

I 86'd it and got the Autometer 3 pillar, which I should have spent the extra 10 bucks on in the first place.

I don't like the pillar mount location. Too many idiot pedestrians around here don't look when crossing the streets and makes for a big blind spot to the left.

I would prefer the dash top mount if I could find a good one. My dash just started cracking so that will be in the works soon.

Agree 100%
I've installed a lot of pillar gauges for people who want them there but can't stand the blind spot when test driving.
Maybe they get used to it?

The gauges in both my trucks are installed on the dash a few inches under the ash tray and suit me just fine.
With a properly tuned and maintained vehicle you really don't need the gauges staring you in the face all the time anyway.
About the only times I look over at my gauges is towing heavy up a grade. Rest of the time just a glance now and then is plenty.

I agree 100% I'd put mine all in front of the 4x4 lever but dogs and a few baby calves and muddy manure boots I put my two up on the pillar and fuel psi on the floor,I could see having a third on the pillar be a nightmare

Don't mean to sidetrack o.p. but I like a simple metal 3 hole bracket up on the dash, close to the window so it's below the hood line while driving. I think the a pillar/stock "mouse ear" mirror combo is bad enough of a blind spot with the rain gaurds over the window. Only downside is looking at all the wiring/tubing through the windshield. Some day I'll make a little cover to button that all up.

I think someone makes one like you mention, but in a two hole. I like the idea of a dash top cluster, less eyes off the road. I really only need the egt and fp so this may work for me.

i have the triple dash pod at the base of the windshield, and a single pod on the steering column. couldn't be happier. very easy to locate and read when necessary . . .

i have zero regrets - reason i stayed away from the pillar mount was a larger blindspot.

both my mounting options are made by autometer.
