Which Garrett BB is equivalent to 64/71/16cm?

I am not familiar with their chargers. I wouldn't mind trying a BB secondary, but it needs to be at least equal to the 64/71/16 i am running now. Faster spooling would be good, but I'll believe it when i see it.

Ron, IMO the closest to that turbo would be the GT4088 with the .95 housing. If you're used to the 16HTT housing, you can probably go a little larger on the hotside with the Garrett for the same lag level.

That Garrett has a 63.5mm inducer with 52 trim, a 77mm turbine, and 4 different housings available from .85 to 1.19.

With the tightest housing, the 4088 should spool about like the GT37 that's pre-packaged for the CTD (a hair more lag), only it will cool a little better and pull harder up top than the GT3788. By all accounts, the GT37s spool really fast and really early. So far a guy like you who's interested in bigger power and doesn't need the instant spoolup, the 4088 might be a good choice.

I'll bet you both the dollars in my pocket that the 4088R with the .95 housing will spool way earlier than the 64/71/16 you are currently running.

When you say "equivalent' to the 64/71/16, what are you specifically referring to? The GT4088 is closest on paper, but you have to state what you are going for?

If you want a little more overall flow with more tunability (housing choice) and a better spool, then the 4088R is my recommendation.

If you want about the same flow but way better spool, then go with the GT3788R.

If you want about the same spool, but a lot more flow, go with the 4094 up top. This turbo is somewhat close to a Silver Bullet in flow, but will spool way better.

These are my guesstimations.

(See sig, but then you already know I could be full of it)

A 64mm S400 flows roughly 75lbs/min. which is considerably more than the 4088. A 4094 is slightly more but about equal to a 66mm S300. So to answer your question Ron, the 4094 would be slightly bigger but the closest you'll get to the 64/71/16 in the Garrett line.

Thanks for the info. I spent all day at a dyno event yesterday looking for clues about the Garrett. Looks like the 64/71/ will stay put. I think part of my issue right now is over fueling on the bottom with the new DV holders and 022's. Going back to 181's and stock holders is an easy fix.(Yes DonM, you told me so. I'm a slow learner.).
