They are work using the same principle. Just a pressure switch like an oil pressure switch that turns on the light.

IMO, you are far better off with a gauge.

I install BD fuel pressure light while in the states last summer. I am glad I did because it probally saved my injection pump when my lift pump started to fail. I also screwed in a cheap pressure gage into my fuel filter canister housing which helps to verify the pressure and light. I am now waiting for my Air Dog 100 pump to arrive and screw those stock pump replacements. The pump that failed was the second one I had installed.

I light will only tell you that is bad but a gauge you can watch to see what pressure it runs at idle, driving, and wot. You also will be able to tell if the pump is on it's way out from drop in pressure and slow build up. I put gauges on first and in stock form I could pull my new stock pump down to the danger zone. no matter if you stay stock or go all out u should at least get a fuel pressure gauge, but if you just stick with the idiot light and if it comes on a lot I would change out the pump to be safe but you won't know if it is bad with out a gauge or your ip goes out. Just my two cents

Again, you are much better off with a guage and it doesnt matter if you are stock or wild. A gauge lets you see trends in pressure. An idiot light is just that - an idiot light.

Get a mechanical gauge lit with a good isolator. Fuel will stay under hood and it's glycol into the cab.

www.vulcanperformance.com has what you are looking for -

http://www.vulcanperformance.com/ISS...it-p/issfp.htm

as does most performance diesel suppliers/shops.

I run fuel into the cab (have for 6 years now) - its cheap, accurate and troublefree - but hey, its your truck so install whatever you want on it.

Just a note, the above kit does not run fuel into the cab. It uses a proprietary isolator and keeps the fluids separated. Fuel under the hood and glycol into the cab.
