Fuel Pressure gauge-what to get

I need to get an FP right away, can't find one in town, and have been doing a search. Some posts have said they used a boost gauge or a water pressure gauge as FP? Is this correct?

You could probably use one of them, but only with an isolator.

Isolators tend to fail, or give false readings.

I'd get an Isspro and run it direct.
(actually I did just that)

www.wildcatdiesel.com is a great place to start, and I believe they're in your neck of the great white woods.

Have seen a couple posts saying Isspro's are backordered,
if this is the case (as it was when I got mine), Rod at Wildcat still might be able to find you one.

If he still can't find one, I bet he could point you in the right direction to find something else.

Thanks. I had talked to Rod @ wildcat when I ordered my maxflo kit and they were back ordered. I am trying to install it (and hopefully figure out why the truck won't start) but it seems that I need to plug an FP into the tapped npt fitting to finish it. I didn't realise that when I started.

Brain fart here.
Of course you know Rod if you have the maxflo kit.

Try DieselPerformanceParts.com I just got a Autometer Ultra lite 0-30psi electric. Works so good it told me my lift pump had hit the road. The gauge paid for itself the first 30min I had it in!

I have a Hewitt mechanical gauge running direct. Isolators are crap.

I got it from Enterprise Engine Performance and like it a lot-- not much noise.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I just bought a Di-Pricol mechanical from Western Diesel in Edmonton today. It was only the 16th place I tried!
It is only a 15 psi one but that's OK. If it stays pegged I'd be happy. They didn't have a tubing kit so I got some hose and fittings from a heavy duty truck parts supply but it looks like I will have to get one more connector in the a.m.

I haven't done a search yet (it's late and I'm going to bed) but how do you hook 'em up? (asidefrom running the hose from the filter outlet into the cab)
