If I connect my fuel pressure gauge line to the VP-44 inlet with a tapped Banjo-bolt. Is that where the Schrader valve is and do I eliminate the Schrader valve? I would like to avoid doing the bottom of the filter.

 

Yes, you remove the schrader valve and attach there. This is how I have mine set up. A lot less work than pulling the filter, it just means you won't have the schrader if you need it. I figured it wasn't that big of a deal.
