fuel filter/lift pump combo
Anyone had any experience with this? http://www.smokindiesel.com/Dodge/24_valve/FASS.htm
It's a combo fuel filter/lift pump, retrofitted from larger diesels to Cummins 5.9L's, PSD's & Duramax's. Presumably solves both the lift pump problem and underlubrication/fuel overheating in the VP44. Big sucker. Mounts to the frame back by the tank, replaces both lift pump and fuel filter & housing on the engine.

Re:fuel filter/lift pump combo
man, that thing has the size of a starter almost! someone on this site may have it already (not really sure)..If i was thinking of purchasing it my first concern would be how much pressure at start-up it produces, the VP's don't like too much pressure at initial start-up, especially on a "hot start" from what i understand..looks pretty beefy though, How much is it??

Re:fuel filter/lift pump combo
589.00 for the unit
649.00 for the high flow unit
It says on there that it hooks up to the wiring of the factory lift pump...
Here is the link with more detail

There is a multi page discussion going on over at the TDR about the FASS system.
I haven't read it myself.
I'm not a member but visit it often.

Re:fuel filter/lift pump combo
I had been looking into that system from the big truck perspective to see if it could be used. That will be my next lift pump. Really not that expensive considering that it replaces all the fuel lines to the pump. Only consideration is the availability of the filters.

Looks pretty good. The Fleetguard filter would be easy to get, but what about the other filter and how much would it be?
