Question Another question about tire/rim/lift combo...

Ok I'll try to keep this short... Just looking for opinions!

Ok here's the deal, the guy at the offroad shop wants to put a 6 inch Superlift on my truck... he said it was good and that he runs it on his dodge, and yes I saw his truck and it did indeed have said lift. I want to run Toyo MT's 37/20's on a Motometal 951B with this lift but he said it would rub really bad. He said the 35 would work better but I just don't want to end up with a really short side wall...

Now to this guy's credit he works for a well know offroad shop in Tulsa and offroads himself on the weekend so I am lead to believe that he knows what he's talking about... But on the other side of that coin I know that just because you do something and work in the field, it doesn't necessarily mean that you know what your talking about. I know because I'm paramedic and I know people who are paramedic's that teach and I wouldn't let them touch my dog but the have the same license I have!

Ok here's what I'm looking for, opinions about whether or not I should be able to run this lift/tire/wheel combo (6 inch Superlift/Toyo 37/20's/Motometal 951B) without any major complications or rubbing...

Thanks for all your help folks!

Well.... I'm running a 6" Superlift with 37" on 20's and I can tell you it will rub. I have 20x10's though and I believe that's gonna be the difference. Superlift states 37's will work on 20x8's.

Mine rubs only on the driver side and only very slightly. If I were to cut off about an 1" of plastic right on the corner of the front fender, I'd have no rub.

I plan on a body lift to eliminate that instead of cutting!

I think as long as you get the right size rims with the correct backspacing, you'll be ok.

Its all about backspacing. You can definatley run 37's with 6" of lift but those wheels are 20x10 with 4.79" of backspacing so they are gonna rub. The key is to find a wheel thats 8-9" wide with 5-6" of backspacing. You wont have any issues after that.

That's the ticket! My 20x10's have 5.5" backspacing which is why I only have a slight rub.

Backspacing, backspacing, backspacing! On Dodges backspacing is your friend. The more you have the better. A 20"x9" rim with 5.75" backspacing (about +20mm offset) is what you're shooting for. Good luck!

I had a superlift 6" lift on my 05 running 37's on 20's and had minor rubbing issues.... Backspacing is the ticket though....
