front drive shaft
hello out there. I have a 2002 dodge 3500 Quad cab 4 wheel drive dually. The front drive shaft gave out the other day. the double ujoint with the ball and socket wore out. Is there a better shaft out there. I have a smarty, 150 sticks, and a boost fooler, and guages. Any suggestions would be appriciated.
if the truck is stock and not lifted I would put your money back in spicer parts. you can call www.quad4x4.com or napa I have 170k on the stocker with a 6" lift and soon will be replacing it. I have went through u-joints only acouple of times. you can dump alot of money on specialty ones but I would just get a oem. napa chassis line I believe is lifetime warranty. by the way how did it give out. usually there are warning signs with the u-joints what they are made to do prior to problems. just curious
drv shaft ball and socket can be replaced (70$ or so Canadian) unless the stud portion is worn,
have also heard that a drv shaft can be bought from the dealer for around 300$ canadian, while drv line rebuilders charge 400-600$ no first hand experience with this though

need to know is it the whole shaft destroyed or just the ball/flange thingie or the double cardigan joint yoke shaft if its a whole deal cheaper if you can go to napa or www.rockauto.com or the other I mentioned
