Free port work--need volunteer

I posted a few months ago looking for a diesel owner who had a recent dyno sheet that would be interested in free portwork on the head, exhaust manifold and turbine housing, as well as thermal coating on all of it.

There was some miscommunication and the last volunteer didnt materalize, so if someone has a recent dyno and can dyno again after the port work and can test throttle response etc the offer is still on the table.

This is about 1000.00 service for nothing but shipping. We use a flowbench so we can verify before and after results, and have done port work on a variety of gas engines from 2.2-2.5 turbo Dodges, Nissans, Hondas, and of course the V8 stuff.

LMK if your interested.

Thanks,

Wallace

I just got done porting my head and manifold. The exhaust housing on my hybrid was already done. I can put her on the dyno again, but i honestly think it will lose alittle boost and maybe even power.

The only thing that porting a diesel does is help with egt's. Piers will tell you that you will lose about 3-4 psi of boost after a port job.

But hey with the porting done I will be able to run those huge injectors with a level of comfort that I did not have before.

My truck with dd 3's pulls 443.2 HP and 854.9 Ft/Lbs on a mustang dyno. Seems low, but go figure. I does run a low 13 at the strip @ 105 mph.

I am going to finish up the fire rings and studs this weekend and will have it back on the dyno to post my results.

Lower EGTs are good, but ask yourself why are you loosing boost? Your "loosing" boost, because you are reducing a restriction to the flow. The increase in flow has to go somewhere, the only place it goes is in the cylinder. We all know more air in the cylinder means you can add more fuel which makes more power.

ALso, since the turbo isnt working as hard the air is not being heated as much by excessively beating it to make more pressure, and cooler air is denser and makes more power.

If you can find me another head and port it I will pay for the head, a new ATS manifold, shipping and any other costs. I just dynoed my truck and have no problems with my truck being a test bed. I just don't want my truck being down for a long time, can't be without it.

PM me with your phone number and I'll call you so we can talk.

I thought that the decreased boost was from the extra volume "increased air space" that the pressurized air has to fill??

Same thing, isn't it! With more space to fill, there is less restriction on where the air can go, so there is less boost.

Lower Boost @ Higher Flow

Thumbs up

If there's a reduction in the boost pressure after improving the airflow as measured on a flowbench, then you can be assured a restriction in the ports have been removed and more air can make it to the cylinder and be available for processing...a term coined by the late great Smokey Yunick , increased amounts of fuel for more power.
How wide do you make the seats & faces for a diesel. Top cuts & bottom cuts? Yep, I work on gasoline heads/intakes partime in a raceshop.

Are you testing this on a vacuum flow bench or a positive flow bench? I don't think the vacuum bench will produce the right flow characteristics for porting a head that's almost always under high boost. But then again, I'm no expert.

On the intake its vacuum and the exhaust is a pressure. It has proven to be very reliable for force inducted cars, so a diesel will be very similar.

I have filled the volunteer slot, so in the near future Dyno results will be posted as well and EGT temps.

thanks again for eveyones input, we will post the results and will make available the port/coating work for those interested.
