Different Turbo?

Getting the Transmission done next week. Got the EZ in place and now thinking about putting in injectors. I believe I would like to go with the 1.5's.
I have been told that I would probably need a different turbo. Ok gang, what do you think?

You should be OK with the OEM turbo.

SO! An EZ, plus 1.5 injectors should be ok with the small HY-35? This is great news!!! I am saving up for this plan! I want to put in beefier tranny internals, like DTT or Goerend Bros. to ward off any trouble! I have 4:10's, though.

Let us know how your mods turn out!!!!!!!

I have the EZ and 1.5's with 4.10's and I went with a larger turbo as I could not use just the power from the EZ while pulling my 12K fiver without topping out my EGT's on long grades.
Put on an HX35/12cm and will see if this gives me the wiggle room I need to stay at the speed limit and keep EGT's under 1200, if not, then it's up to a 14cm exhaust housing!!

You said you put on a larger turbo and was running high EGT's. Are you using the HX35/12cm now? And that is what is running high ? I'm confused

Sorry about that....I have an auto so my stock turbo was the HY35/9 cm...I upgraded to the HX35/12. I have not had a chance to pull my trailer with the new injectors and turbo, will have to wait to see what a difference it has ( or hasn't ) made.

NOW I understand. I was told the same thing that you are experiencing. The 9cm can't keep the temps down. You and I pull about the same weight, however, you are probably running higher altitudes and grades. Living in the mid-west we don't have many long grades.

Pulling the Siskyous this past summer is what did it for me...I was in 3rd gear at about 45MPH when a tractor trailer pulled over from the shoulder into the slow lane to pass a car stalled on the shoulder, had a truck next to me in the fast lane so I was stuck, had to downshift to 2nd and was barely able to keep it at 40 MPH without EGT's going off the scale...not to mention my trans getting pretty darn hot! ( it was about 102 degrees and this is a long 6% grade )
Hoping that I will now be able to at least keep it at 55 MPH and below 1200 degrees and have a little extra if I need to pass the occasional slow truck....
