Question "FREE" Goosneck Hitch (almost)

Whatcha guys think? We got a 01 V10 3/4 longbed with a hidden hitch gooseneck hitch and here is the deal. I have to pay to have the hitch removed and installed in to my truck, only $200.00. I think its a pretty good deal. The hitch is almost new. Here is what it is.

It should fit fine. If I add an adapter to fit a fiver, does anybody think I'll have any clearance issues with the cab?

That looks a lot like the B&W hitch. If it's anything like the B&W then it's a great hitch and I'd definately jump on it. I'd also think about installing it yourself. My buddy and I installed his at night and it only took us 2 hours moving real slow.

Man Tye

free tires, and now a free hitch? hehehehe.. Id say feel froggy and leap, those are really good hitches.. Dad and I have put them in on trucks like yours before in a couple hours time, and thats with beverages and breaks. not hard at all to do..

Its a Hidden Hitch. I guess its rated @ 7,500 pound vertical and 30k pulling. I like how the handle comes out in the fender well to flip the ball. It seems like a really sweet hitch.

Tye:

You have probably already thought of this, but.
If you need the hitch then yes install it.
However if you ever consider selling your truck it may or may not influence the buyer. I have seen it before, the buyer may think the truck was used extensivley for towing, even though you tell them different.

ull like it trust me...

As far as what dusty says, Well yes and no on the towing issues. Coming from Texas if u see a truck with a gooseneck hitch, mine included chances are it has been worked and worked hard, although mine sees light duty 98 percent of the time. Ppl down here expect to see a gn hitch on these trucks, but if its a well taken care of rig like Tye's is, and is not so beat up, then it can be sold even easier. If push comes to shove tho and u see lots of wear on the ball which is what many ppl look for, then just replace it with a newer one. its not dishonest, and it might also create that u wore the other one out but IMHO anyone who know and appreciates a diesel will know that it is a workhorse and the occasional tow shouldnt be out of the question...

Here is my thought. I don't need a gooseneck hitch but I need a 5ver hitch because were going to be buying one. I have been asked in the past, twice, if I could move a goose neck for someone. A 5ver sliding hitch is going to cost $1200+ installed. For about $300 I can buy the 5ver adapter. So for $500 bucks I can have a gooseneck and 5ver hitch that is hidden and out of the way. It just seems like a win, win situation.

Any more input would be great.

Dusty, I plan on being buried in this.

I figured that you knew that I knew that you already knew what to do. Sounds like a good plan to me. And they are a handy thing to have.
