Finished my custom exhaust....NICE!
Finished my custom exhaust....NICE!
Thanks Tyler! (aka BigBlue)
I wanted to help out my stock exhuast, but keep it relatively quiet. So, I got a 4" tailpipe w/5" ss tip from BigBlue that he wasnt using, and a resonator that came off my brothers old 24valve.
Luckily, I know someone with a truck lift in thier shop, so this turned into a 20 minute R&R job (minus welding). We used a sawzall on all the stock stuff, which sped the process up greatly. Once I had everything fitted up, we mig welded everything, and added some hangers. We reused 2 of the stock hangers, and fabbed up 2 others.
I have had a 12valve with 3" straight pipe before, and it was really loud! I knew going into this that this was not the sound that I was trying to acheive. I wanted something that was considerably quieter, but had a nice rumble. That is exactly what I acheived.
@ idle, there is a slight rumble. You can actually stand at the rear of the truck, and have a decent conversation without yelling.
It gives a nice rumble when you stomp on it, and it is pretty loud when rowing through the gears. When you get to cruising speed there is a slight drone, but nothing that I cant deal with. It is defiently an improval over 3" straight, and it didint cost me anthing.
I have not ran a full tank of diesel yet to see the mileage, but I will post asap if there is an increase. There is a SOP hp increase though. The turbo spools quicker, and I can hit the top end of my RPM's quicker. I am satisfied. Thanks BigBlue for the pipe. I appreciate it.
I just thought I'd share the smile that I can wipe off my face.
