If your stock manifold is not cracked there is no reason to replace it. You will see no gains with a after market replacement. Just my .02. Thanks Steve B.

If you wait until you have damage, you will experience the reason why you should have gone with an aftermarket manifold. The reason to get one is because the stock manifold being one piece grows and shrinks quite a bit due to heat. What usually happens if damage occurs is an ear breaks off the cylinder head near cylinder #1. The aftermarket manifolds are 2 or 3 pieces, which allows for the thermal expansion and contraction. You won't get any performance gains worth mentioning, though.

IMHO I believe that yes indeed you will see a noticeable improvement in "air flow" at least I did with mine, there are those who might say "oh I'm going to have 70 # of boost, well that is nice but unless it flows ...... follow me ? I can hear it and feel the improvement, combine that with a nice ubobstructed smooth intake horn and you will see improvement if you have the pump adjustments to go with it. I stand my ground !

Im 200% in agreance with joseph on this one. Aftermarket exhaust manifold make a definte noticeable improvement on turbo spool. Ive ran my 64 with the same set up just without the manifold i have now because i too thought it was a waste of money Then i decided to try one and now im never geting rid of it. I dont tow hardly at all but even in a passing situation the turbo lights faster(at a lower rpm) and once it begins to build boost it goes to full boost quickerd (mines set at about 44psi).

if i didnt change mine it whould have broke the ear off . i dont think 24v have the ears on the head like 12v do.

That is correct. It usually just splits around the turbo flange. Bolts also like to come loose as well. My 24v was missing both bolts on the #6 when I bought. Shows how closely I looked over the truck.

If the stock ones always brake, why wait until it does and than have to deal with a possible busted bolt stuck in the head? I noticed a little difference over stock manifold and the mods I all ready had.

I agree with the pro defense. If your stock, dont waste your money unless you have a problem or one is forming.
That being said, its differant if you have the mods to back it... ie air intake, bigger turbo, and of coarse fueling mods to combine with the air.
Also though from what ive read, it seems to be inevitable that a stock exhaust mani will atleast warp if not crack as well eventually. So if your looking at turning up the power over the truck life, wouldnt hurt to have an exhaust mani on your list of toys.

I have the ATS with a stock turbo. I didn't notice any major difference before and after - had the stock fuel plate and no injectors at the time. Had to replace mine because of damage.

I noticed a decent amount of temp loss on mine, but I also did a compressor housing/wheel. I could get 1400 like instantly. Now unloaded its 1050. Foot to the floor towing and a pass 1250.

Porting the manifold / turbine inlet prolly helped abit too. I took alot of unneeded junk out

Like I said, if you have the air/fuel mods to back it, its worth it in my opinion.
