I ordered every thing I think I'm going to need to do my single stack ...I'm doing 4" stack ...I'm going threw the bed in the right corner... just before the bed floor support .
I was wondering If any one would know what the temps on the pipe might be in that area ...I am using a bent piece of stainless to reflect any heat from the resonator ... thats going in the bed with a heat shield around it .
The bed right now has a spray on liner ... I know that stuff melts around 250 degrees ...I'm not sure how hot the stack will get ...I'm keeping the bends to a minimum ...
If any of you guys with stacks can let me know what kind of heat I should expect I would aperciate that .
Thanks
Greg

I hit mine with the temp gun right after I got home one day, it was around 180 degrees. I'm sure it will get a lot hotter than that when working, though. Wanna ride in the bed with the temp gun while I flog the truck? All in the interest of science, of course.

I 'm right around the corner from you ... I'm a ford guy that has seen the light ... I picked up a use 96 to get my feet wet ... I love this dodge truck ... I have done a lot of preventive maintance to my new toy ...it's comming a long pretty well .
I did a big honking air cleaner to let it breath ...and I figured get rid of that cat and some put a flowmaster on the truck ... go figure .
I still have my ford for now ... I'm waiting till the last week of this month ... I'm taking my last vacation that week and I will be doing some new dodge shoping .
The maket is pretty slow right now ...I am trying to move this ford on my own first before resort to seeing what it will trade for .
It's a good looking truck ... but thats about it ...it's had so many problems ...its listed on here under misc if you want to check out my piece of crap ford ...LOL
180 degrees sounds good for me ...I'm going to use a angle trim ring that will have a 1 " air gap all the way around ...it should work out well .
Thanks again

I've been running twin 5" stacks now for a little over a month. My EGT gauge has seen 1250* many times since then. My bedliner has yet to even look like it's melting and my stacks and y-pipe are sitting right on it. Now, there are several spots on my y-pipe where things have melted but all of that stuff was nylon rope or pieces of carpet. I've got a piece of cardboard that's been riding up against the stacks since I installed them and it hasn't even started to turn black yet.

Thanks guys ...the temps should be fine ... Dave I allready did my KDP ...I'm a young retired wrench ...but I still love to tinker , once it gets into your blood it's hard to shake ...LOL
I did my KDP , vacume pump seal , power steering pump , all the hoses and belt , the truck has a new trans but they left the old hose and fittings ....I just finished doing all new hydraulic lines .
The truck is in very good condition ... I have yet to do any major performance mods ...Yet ...I would like to see 250hp or a little more .
Thanks

Greg,
Gonna suggest a magnaflow or another flow through muffler (I prefer stright pipe) The flowmasters are good mufflers, but because of the baffle design they will trap heat, which is bad for our trucks. You want a batting type muffler to absorb sound...
