exhaust system?

Are their any downsides to running straight exhaust on performance? dont care about the noise, louder=better for me,
what else can i do to make it sound more like a big rig?

what are these noise rings every one talks about?

No loss of performance. If you want it to sound like a big rig, you're on the right track. Click here to read a thread on silencer ring removal. To find more, just run a search on "silencer" and you'll get about 10 - 15 pages.

If you really want it obnoxious, dump the exhaust infront of the rear wheel instead of behind.

of course the more obnovious the better,

My other question is smoke?

what will produce the most at stop lights and when i stomp on it on the freeway?

I know all this seems childish but man im having to much fun with my Rig to care!

If only i had some air brakes and back up buzzers! LOL

Exhaust and the ring

sandpuller2004,

Every truck we have ever installed an system on has mysteriousley had the ring dissappear, can't figure that one out? Sure does sound better though!! Call us if you need a system we also have muffler delete pipes for our system if you need one.

You probably won't notice any change in performance. Your EGT's should drop a little. It's hard to quantify how much louder it is. At idle and at low speed/light load it's not much different in the cab, but when you step on it it's a lot louder. You hear the exhaust, not the engine - the exhaust drowns out the engine noises.

gun it under over passes and you see really how loud it is or go in between 2 houses ............loud to say the least I have no condencer or muffler just the strait pipe and the stack under my truck and itll turn heads but you can control it fairly easy just drive like a normal person does BTW I get 17 mpg @ 3/4 filter life they say your mileage goes up with a strait pipe but if your like me youll be gunning it every ware and guzzleing diesel so I acctually lost fuel milage.

Ok y'all... got my attention.. I am putting a 4" system on my truck this weekend .. I will go look up this "silencer ring" to see what it is.. But apparently I will see it when I take the old system off, correct ? << Went and read the post that was recommended and understand now :-) >>
And what y'all are sayin is to "straight pipe" it huh ? I'll give that a shot..
As always.. thx for the info..

hey jeff, u need to take off the air pipe going into the front of the turbo to see it and take it out. should be one band clamp and your in. the ring is held in by a snap ring and takes time to get out. take the snap ring out and the ring will come right out. good luck, pm me if you need any more help. chris

most any muffler shop can make a piece to replace your muffler and resanator for 20-30 bucks if you install it your self. a few guys will do it for you but not many
