exhaust manifold upgrade

is my local dealer being a salesperson or what?...

he is "suggesting" to me that i purchase a new and better model high strength exhaust manifold when i finish my upgrades. he states that alot of BOMBED trucks eventually warp the stock exhaust manifold. this upgraded manifold is actually three separate pieces instead of one. in addition, the newer one breathes better too.

in all that i have read in this site, i have yet to find an indivdual with warping manifolds. so.....

Actually the manifolds shrink and crack. This is normal even for a hard working stock truck. Just keep an eye on it and replace it if necessary. I assume the manifold he's pushing is the ATS, it's a quality piece that you will see in many members' signatures. You probably don't need it yet, just watch the middle of the manifold for cracks.

If you do need one due to the stocker going bad, you will find the ATS is actually more cost effective than an OEM NIB replacement.

I upgraded to an ATS 3 piece when I upgraded the turbo. Timely in terms of install, and had plenty of miles on the stocker.

Yep, mine was cracked in three places, the ATS is the manifold that should have come on our trucks.

My sons 94 has the ATS three piece on it. Seems to work very well.

Yeah and for a real improvement, clean up the ports on the head side of the ATS and bring them out to near gasket line. Made a big difference on mine.
