Hi, I am not sure how to search this. But a friend of mine told me that I had to put a "T" somewhere to use the trucks vacuum-exhaust system to take advantage of onboard air. IE. I wouldnt need a seperate compressor-- just an air tank. Is this true??

No it is not. You need a compressor to run any air powered components.
