Electronic High Idle Kit

In four weeks my '04 will be arriving! Woohoo!

I've located just about everything I want in aftermarket accessories, except one thing, an electronic high idle control.

If anyone has any information on where to get one for a 2003+ truck please don't be bashful with the information. I want one to battle against wet stacking and runnning things such as a winch. Since these engines are all electroninc anyway, a propped stick between the acclerator and the seat just doesn't seem right.

I contacted Cummins and they say they don't have anything for the 2003+ trucks.

Does anyone have a line on an aftermarket high idle control kit??

Thanks.

Re:In Four Weeks.....

It increases the idle speed to prevent possible engine damage while warm-up idleing in cool weather.

Ok I get it I knew it dealt with high idle to warm up but never really thought exactly.

Festus

Why not see if the dealer has a cold weather flash available.

Edward,

The truck will occassionally run for far longer than the dealer can reflash.

When on the farm, or running errands and it's -30 Celcius outside, I'm a firm believer that it's easier on the ol' girl to just flip a switch and idle up rather than keep starting and stopping everytime I jump in or out of the truck.

Re:In Four Weeks.....

In medium duty truck applications, the cruise control functions as a stationary throttle when the parking brake is applied and the truck is in neutral. Perhaps this can be enabled on the Dodge?

In heavy duty truck applications too, but unfortunately, I don't possess the know-how to make it work in our trucks.

I'm pretty good at automotive wiring, but that admittedly is beyond my technology.

Re:Electronic High Idle Kit

ahem........i wonder if we could twist the arm of the new vendor, Howard Van Fleet, to come up with a high idle/turbo timer all-in-on package??!!!!???? I would buy that as well as an Accusump Turbo After-Oiler. Also if he could add something electric to keep the french fry's from getting into my door storage pocket......i would be just soo happy ;D . Seriously....High Idler for the 02 down trucks....Who makes em and where do you get em? ??? Would love to have one for these COLD Texas winters! We might acctually get a day or two of snow this year! Glad i got the 4x4 with the plow package! Im out!

Dan

P.S.- i got plenty of sticks.....thank you very much! ;D

Re:Electronic High Idle Kit

These trucks are set up for a PTO setup where the engine speed should be set higher. Noone has ever come up with how to get it going. Some powertrain company should have that information. The wire is about the middle of the cowl but what to do with it? This is something that the electrical gurus should find out about. I keep planning to go over the circuits in the service manual to see what I can find but my round tuit is misplaced somewhere.

I noticed that wire for the first time yesterday.
Wasn't even looking, just noticed a wire hanging there not doing anything, with a PTO tag on it.

Someone has to know what, why, and wherefore.

Tried twice to have the high idle enabled by Dodge, but something failed, as it has yet to work.
