EGT's Too Hot, Is A Silver Bullit The Answer??
On the dyno on Saturday, I can on run Smarty #3 and TST Comp on #2 and still reach 1500 degrees at the end of the dyno run. A few other guys were running Phatshaft 62's and seeing some hot numbers. Now to fully utulize my Smarty and TST Comp without melting my motor down, I need a nice and cool turbo. So with saying all that, please someone point me in the right direction!!! I was thinking a HTT 64/14 but I think Mike D has this turbo and he hits 1550 degrees at the end of the quarter mile and I'm looking to stay under 1300 degrees. What is the least laggiest turbo out there that will cool good? Is a Silver Bullit the way to go? Thanks guys....

silver bullets cool great, but you can still get warm, especially w/ enough fuel to make a silver light right
water/methanol is going to REALLY help EGT's... of course, combined w/ a nice turbo, it'll be that much cooler

If your not planning on ever going bigger with your injectors i would go with a 64/14, but if you were look into a silver bullet/phatshaft66,HTT Prostreet 66/or Sledpullers 66

I plan on going up to Mach 4 injectors so I don't know if a HTT 64/14 will cool enough??? I don't have my heads o-ringed so water/meth is not a good idea I've been told....

I have a 64/12, so part of my EGT issues are related to the smaller housing. The 14 cm housing would probably give me some relief, but I doubt it would be much.
I personally don't think 1550 is too bad for a 500hp truck that runs a 13.0 on a single charger.
I suspect some of the EGTs we see are related to burning fuel in the exhaust manifold due to over-fueling.
With that said, I'm looking at a water system to help the rings.
You can only go to the well so many times...

I see, I thought you had a 64/14. Mike, are you o-ringed? The only reason I'm not going to water/meth is because I'm not o-ringed yet and I don't want to pop a head gasket...

Stock head bolts and head gasket. I will probably install head bolt before adding water. I don't plan on using meth in the mix. I just want the cooling effect form the water. N20 will be my choice for more power, stud first though.
I don't think running just water will spike the cylinder pressure too much. I could be wrong.

Yeah if your planning on going with some Mach 4's i would go with a 66mm charger but you might wanna be ready to o-ring if you go that route you'll be make more boost if you use all of your TST and smarty

Dont hold me to it but i think that Aurora 5000 would probably be laggy, i know some people are using them on the 3rd gens for big power and are daily driving them but with the fuel systems on the common rails they will lite a turbo way faster than our 2nd gens. I would just talk to some vendors about their 66mm chargers and pick one that best suits you, i run a 66 with mach 7's daily it's not that bad at all i usually just ride around on the smarty and the TST off

I've run a SB66 on my truck, and while totally drivable, I wouldn't want anything that lit very much later for every day driving...
a lot of people wouldn't like if, especially if they live at high altitude
if you want cool power, go w/ twins, but if you've got a stick and don't haul anything, I'd go w/ a nice single and some water/meth. I just don't like the way twins hit w/ a manual tranny for just hot rodding around
