egt probe location ???

Question egt probe location ???

hi
well i finaly got a egt gage !

now drilling / tapping and keeping it clean i understand .

my question is where do i locate it exactly on the manifold ???

and why there ?

Just before the flange that the turbo mounts on.

To the back of about 75% towards the back. There are actually two passages in the manifold, with metal dividing them. If you drill in the middle, you will have to plug the hole and drill another. 75% towards the back roughly centers the probe in the rear passage. I believe the rear cylinders run slightly hotter than the front ones, hence locating in the rear passage. You drill at the end of the manifold so you collect info from multiple cylinders/convenient location.

I made that mistake and it has been a real mes!! Make sure you go off center
