EGT?? Not sure

Hi all, I am new to the board.
I just installed a Edge Juice with ATT...I have an 01 2500 with a 5 speed stick. I am only adding this for a little more power and throttle response to get rid of the drag(lug) between gears when pulling my 30' holiday trailer and of course for the gauges. I removed the resinator and added a free flow muffler, I installed a custom built air box. When I went away on the weekend I was reaching 1250 easy with about half throttle on #2 setting. I am not sure what the highest temp I should be obtaining but I feel 1250 too hot...Is this true? What kind of boost should I be getting? I installed the boost elbow that came with the chip. I have about 228,000 kms on the engine and had the valves set and a tune up done approx 20,000 kms ago. I put a new lift pump in then as well.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

1250 is the absolute HIGHEST substaining egts you can have. period. i mean you can hit well over that in a drag race and thats fine becuase it only last for about 8 to 10 seconds. but keeping high egts while towing, 1250 is the absolute max. any higher, your going to melt your pistons quick. like i said 1250 is the highest, i would just let off the pedal a little and run it around 1100 or 1150 while towing. you can set your MAX egt setting on the Juice with attitude that way if you do get that high, it will defuel the truck.

Thanks for the advice...Is there any thing I can do to help keep the EGT down so I can run a little more throttle? As far as after market products?
Thanks

Well there is always a bigger turbo......that'll help things stay cool!! Also, what is you fueling set at on your EDGE?? Each different stage has a fueling range...1 thru 5.......what do you have it set on?? Check that out and if you have it maxed out try turning it down a little bit and see if that cools you down.

Also did you see what boost numbers you had?? Maybe you're not getting enough boost, you can run 35psi and still be good.

Hmmm that might be the reason.......you should be seeing at least boost #'s in the 30's. Try screwing in the boost elbow more......just becareful not to over tighten it!!

It reduces the amount of pressure being applied to the wastegate helping it stay closed longer......which in return builds more boost.

Well i screwed in the boost elbow two turns and I can only get 20 pounds of boost. That is at wide open throttle at about 2300 rpm in fourth gear. I'm not sure what I can do..outside of a new turbo? Could my wastegate be toast? maybe it is bypassing early.

Thanks

You might have a boost leak. do a search for checking for boost leaks.
Check all of your boots from the turbo to the intake.

I had a similar problem when I bought my Smarty. I bought a 1/8" pipe plug at home depot (about $2.00) and installed it in place of the adjustable boost elbow. That helped a lot.

I still think I may have a boost leak, but I haven't gotten around to finding it yet.

Bamadzl...So by plugging the boost elbow port you just eliminated your wastegate..Is this correct?

Thanks
