EGT gauge replacement

Since I suspect my EGT gauge to be inaccurate, should I replace the whole setup or just the thermocouple?

Thanks

Why do you suspect its inaccurate?? Mine is acting funny too and I'm thinking about swapping it out also. I would probably try the thermocouple first since it's cheaper than replacing the whole thing. That way you can start ruling things out before spending a butt load of money if you don't have to!

Because I melted a piston when my gauge was reading 1200 degrees... and also because the condition of my injector tips indicate temps in excess of 1500 degrees.

OH S***!!!! Yeah that would be a really good clue to say that something is for sure wrong with that sucker!! In that case I would replace the whole freaking thing and be done with it.

Also one other question............where do you have your pyro tapped in at??
