EGT gauge install queston
I have read (forgot source) that you are able to install the thermocouple in the exhaust manifold without removing the manifold or the turbo? Is this true? I am hesitant about drilling into the manifold with it still on the engine; I have no time to pull off the manifold during finals week. Should I wait or go for it? Thanks a lot for the help, Pat

If you drill the hole almost through, then grease the bit, then grease the tap and clean it often, you shouldn't have any problem. Then take a flexible magnet and run it around inside the manifold to catch the pieces that got in. That's how I did it. I was worried too, but it went just fine.

Re:EGT gauge install queston
My dad was going to help my do mine friday night, but he insisted that if we were going to disconnect the turbo we needed to replace the gasket. Is this the way everyone else does it? because in every instruction I have read, it says nothing about replacing the exhaust gasket.

I did it the way erics76 said and had no problems. Just take your time and keep fishing with the magnet and go in every direction until the magnet comes out clean.
