Edge EZ

Im probably about to buy an EZ... I have a stock truck other than a BHAF and straight pipe. Am I going to need an EGT gauge imediatly or can it wait a little bit. (college budget haha) I dont do very much towing. just the occasional boat as I am a captain and will sometimes pull a ski boat around for one of the boat owners. Also is it worth the money. Im seriously considering a used one so it wont be much ha. But what can I expect as far as towing better and performance.

im in the same boat with you brother. full time student and full time worker...it sucks but you gotta do it. i would definitely but an egt gauge and a boost gauge, dont worry about a trans gauge unless you upgrade the tc, then the temps might rise at idle. But all you need r those two gauges, an upgraded lift pump(air-dog 100 is a goodun) and maybe a new vb just to be on the safe side-plus itll help put more power to the ground.

I forgot to mention I have a 5 speed too so ya dont need the trans temp. And what is a "vb"? And I have always wondered but never asked why do you need a boost gauge?

Captain Coop:

I'd rather be safe than sorry so I recommend getting a gauge. Really, you're only talking a little bit of money for a lot of piece of mind. Has anyone ever burned up a motor with just and EZ? Who wants to be first?

VB is shorthand for valve body..

Dont forget fuel pressure gauge! Id say thats the most important of em all. If one of your pumps kicks it, egt's and boost wont matter cause the truck wont be runnin much longer.

Fuel press is a must. But you can get pretty good deals on www.dieselmanor.com on 3 gauge packs.

As for the EZ, I had one a little over a year and it treated me well.
You will diefinantly notice a differance in all around driving fun.

dodgenit do you run the fuel pressure gauge on your attitude monitor? is it pretty accurate? What numbers did you really see with the juice?

Yes I always have fuel press on. Though I seldom look at it anymore unless Im pulling a load up a grade.
I have my low fuel press alert set at 9 lbs (cause you dont wanne drop below 8) and have never had it drop below 12 sinse I got my FASS.

I had a mechanical fuel gauge from before my J/A, and kept both fuel press gauges runnin for a few months, Always right on press with each other so id say its accurate.

I see 20-21 at idle, 17-19 around town and highway, 12-14 WOT on stage 5x5.
